Westlaw (westlaw.com) Browsing Skill

Defines anti-bot mitigation rules and required headed/DOM browsing methods for conducting legal research on Westlaw.

Westlaw (westlaw.com) Browsing Skill

This skill defines rules for interacting with Westlaw using the visible browser or computer access.

Core Rules

  1. Ultra-Aggressive Anti-Bot: Westlaw employs extreme anti-bot security. The standard dev_tools_browser skill is blocked or challenged. However, the standard visible_browser skill MCP tool, edge_dom skill (via the DOM Bridge Extension), and computer_access skill (Pillar 4 Win32 UI Automation) all work successfully.
  2. Required Browsing Method: You MUST use either visible_browser skill, edge_dom skill (via the DOM Bridge Extension), or computer_access skill (Pillar 4 Win32 UI Automation) to interact with Westlaw on the user's authenticated profile.
  3. Internal Browser: NEVER attempt to use the read_url_content internal browser for Westlaw. It will fail immediately.
  4. Legal Analysis Audit: When extracting cases or statutes from Westlaw for a legal workflow, ensure you follow the adversarial audit procedures outlined in the legal-analysis-audit workflow.
